Super Saturday!

SOCCER GAME ANYONE??
Saturday was the first day of SOCCER season. McKay and Sydney both had their first games. They played at the same time so Paul and I had to split up - Paul actually coached McKay's team because their coach was out of town, so I got to watch Sydney play in her game. Although I didn't get to see any of McKay's game, it actually worked out kind of nice to have their games at the same time...it was pretty hot and wouldn't have been super fun to sit through 2 different games. The kids were excited and played well. Syd's our little speedster and actually understands soccer pretty well - she scored 2 goals and was pretty excited about it. McKay is getting better, but wasn't able to score any goals...his team did score more goals than the other team though. So even though they don't keep "score" at the games, both McKay and Sydney "won" their games. It was exciting!
Sydney's team is the Cheetah Girls and McKay's team name is the Scorpions!
(They get to pick their own team names - kind of funny - Sat. Syd played the Candy Canes...so funny!)

A NICE DAY FOR A RUN!

Saturday was also the last race for Paul and I in the race series we were running in. Paul ran the 5k and I ran the 1/2 marathon. The races were at different times and started at different places, so I never got to see Paul run. Paul did awesome though and ran another 22 min. 5k. He placed 4th overall in the race, but came in 3rd overall for the entire series! I am so proud of him for his awesome accomplishment! He's worked really hard!!

I had a good run. The course was nice and shady. The temperature was perfect and the scenery was nice (we ran from Gunlock to Ivins). It had a lot of hills - up and down - and of course you always feel the uphills way more than the downhills, so it felt like more of an uphill run! I ran with Lesley almost to the end and then she fell a second behind me. I felt really good - I don't have too many runs where I feel like I could just keep going forever, but this was one of those days. Lesley and I decided that all the "fast girls" must have slept in because we were the first girls to cross the finish line for the 1/2 marathon. I finished 1st with a time of 1:41 and Les was right behind me finishing 2nd with at time of 1:42. Yeah!! Also Annette and Staci came in right behind us and both finished 1st in their age groups. Overall a good run. It was a lot of fun. It will probably be the first and last time that I ever WIN a race, but hey I'll take it!

So, Paul and I both placed in the series. Paul placed 3rd, like I mentioned above, and I ended up taking 1st place in the women's endurance series. We both won AWESOME trophies (that's why I run - I LOVE LOVE LOVE trophies!!), long sleeve running shirts, and gift certificates. It's been fun and kind of crazy. The best part is being able to run with Paul. I've always told him running is addicting, and now (especially after placing in all his races) I think he understands. I hope this is the beginning of lots of fun years of running together!

Had to get at least one picture of the awesome trophies before they meet their destiny - I don't collect too many things, especially trophies!
