What a weekend!
It was so much fun going with the neighbor girls to Bryce Canyon. It was a beautiful drive and the weather was amazing! The temperature gauge on my car kept getting cooler and cooler the closer we got to Bryce. It was in the 70's when we got there that evening. AWESOME! We had a good time visiting and eating snacks until bedtime and then we were up at 5:00 a.m. to get ready to race! It was a beautiful morning and an awesome downhill course! This was my second time running this race - I did it back in '05 which was my first time ever running a 1/2 marathon! It was much better the second time around!Highlights of the race:
- Trying to get ready for the race with 5 girls and 1 bathroom!
- Needing a long sleeve shirt at the beginning! May I remind you it's the middle of July!!
- Stayed with Jessie as long as I could - which wasn't very long! She's speedy!!
- Lots of downhill - almost too much downhill, it kinda of started to hurt!
- A beautiful sunrise over the peaks of the canyon during the run.
- After a cool start, it got pretty warm pretty fast!
- Not sure if I was going to make it after the 10 mile mark - but I pushed on!
- Felt like I was going slower than tar! No watch so no idea of real pace??
-Entering the town of Cannonville knowing only a mile left! YEAH!!
- Crossing the finish line! Another 1/2 marathon down! Glad I had made it to the end!
- A personal best for me! I was excited to have finished with a time of 1:40 (avg. pace 7:42)! My last 1/2 was over 2 hours...
- Placed 21st overall and 5th in my age group - happy about it!
- Waiting an hour or so for a shuttle to take us back to the hotel - thought they'd never come!
- A nice trip home over Cedar Mountain.
A GOOD TIME OVERALL! Can't wait for next year!

Way to go!! You are a FAST runner....7:42 is crazy. I think "Team Chasqui" might recruit you for the Wasatch back next year. :)
It was so fun! I miss it and wish we were doing it again this weekend! Thanks!
What a great weekend. We need to make that one an annual event for sure!
